Steve Brooks
Athletics Practice Leader
practice. Consider his storied career:
Born in northwest Ohio, Steve was an outstanding basketball player at Findlay High School (OH) and at Taylor University (IN), where he earned his baccalaureate degree in 1980. He also holds Master’s degrees from Indiana Wesleyan and Ball State University (IN).
Brooks was an NAIA Women's Basketball head coach for 24 years, serving at Indiana Wesleyan, St. Francis (IL), and Marian University (IN) and amassed an overall record of 659-176. His teams won two NAIA National Championships and one National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) title.
For his professional achievements, Steve was named WBCA coach of the year in 2007 and 2012 and the NAIA Phyllis Holmes national coach of the year in 2007 and 2013, along with eleven conference-level coach of the year awards.
Steve also served at Taylor University as an assistant men’s basketball coach and was the head coach of Houghton University’s men’s program for seven seasons. His work included service as Athletic Director at Taylor University in the 1990s.
Steve’s belief is that a successful athletics program at the NAIA level requires a comprehensive commitment to excellence in every administrative, recruiting and coaching component. Colleges must align their resources in ways that magnify opportunities while diminishing those activities that rarely contribute to success.
His assessments and recommendations are transformational for those looking to maximize the return on their athletic investment.
